China had 13,332 A-level tourist attractions by the end of 2020, 930 more than at the end of last year, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism said Wednesday. Among them, 302 are 5A-level tourist attractions, an increase of 22.

In terms of intangible cultural heritage protection, by the end of 2020, the State Council had announced 1,372 representative national intangible cultural heritage projects, and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism had identified 3,068 representative inheritors of national intangible cultural heritage. China has 42 entries on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, ranking first in the world.
As for public culture, there were 3,212 public libraries in China by the end of 2020, 16 more than at the end of the previous year, according to the communique. The total volume of books was 1.179 billion, up 6.1%. A total of 575,384 village-level comprehensive cultural service centers were set up, 2,578 counties, county-level cities and districts established the system of main branch cultural centers, and 394 cultural centers established boards of directors.
In addition, by the end of 2020, there were 11,314 cultural relic institutions nationwide, 752 more than at the end of the previous year. National spending on culture and tourism in 2020 will be 108.826 billion yuan, an increase of 2.351 billion yuan or 2.1 percent over the previous year; The per capita expenditure on culture and tourism was 77.08 yuan, an increase of 1.01 yuan or 1.3 percent over the previous year.
